This dense wool mat is the perfect solution for tackling small and medium size holes with a bit of needle-felting - protect your work surface and prevent your needle from breaking at the same time.
 
Needle-felting can be used to fill holes, threadbare areas or diguise a stain on your much-loved knitwear with a kaleidoscope of colours and shapes. It's super satisfying, quick and easy to do making it ideal for mending newbies!
 
A great sustainable alternative to upholstery foam blocks that are often sprayed with nasty chemicals and are difficult to recycle or otherwise dispose of.
 
The mat is made up of two layers which create a 'mini sandwich': a soft 100% wool top layer and a firm base layer made of 70% wool and 30% man-made fibres.
 
The soft top layer is the surface where you felt onto and the firm base layer goes underneath and acts as an extra buffer. The top layer can be composted at the end of its useful life and the base layer will last for a very long time and may never need replacing. Both layers can be flipped over to get the most life out of your mat.
 
Dimensions:
7cm x 10cm x 1cm thick (approx) or 2.75" x 4" x  0.4" thick - a convenient size for small, narrow areas such as sleeves.
